Death Was Arrested

This afternoon I was listening to North Point InsideOut’s song, “Death Was Arrested.” It made me wonder about the word arrested. I understand it from a law enforcement standpoint, but how does it apply to salvation? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary one of the definitions of the word arrested is “to bring to a stop.” This definition is in reference to a disease and how the growth of the disease was stopped or arrested. That’s what happens when someone is saved. Jesus Christ has stopped the spread of the disease of death. As followers of Jesus Christ we have been made alive and well and we are forever free!

The Bible teaches that salvation is not based on what we do, but on our belief in Jesus Christ. Salvation is totally from God, by grace through the redemption of Jesus Christ, the merit of His shed blood. So, if you are a follower of Christ, rejoice! Be thankful for the grace you have been shown. If you are not a follower of Christ, I pray you would acknowledge you are a helpless sinner in God’s sight and in need of a Savior.

To Receive Christ:
You must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to be the very Savior you just admitted to needing. You must believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, having arrested sin. You must personally repent of your sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord over your life, believing that as God, He can and will forgive your sins and give you eternal life.
